What Is This System?

The wireless presenter camera allows staff to display live close-up demonstrations on a projector or TV screen. It is ideal for cooking classes, craft programs, art demonstrations, and other events where attendees need a clear view of what the presenter is doing.

The camera is mounted on an adjustable arm above the presentation area. Video from the camera is fed to a transmitter, then wirelessly to a receiver connected to the display system.

System Components

Camera

Captures the live video feed.

Important: The camera does not have a power switch. It turns on automatically when connected to power and turns off when disconnected.

SmallRig Mounted Arm

Attaches to a table and holds the camera above the demonstration area. The arm can be repositioned to adjust the camera angle.

Portable Battery Pack

Provides power to both the camera and the wireless transmitter.

Video Transmitter

Sends the camera's video signal wirelessly to the receiver.

Video Receiver

Receives the wireless video signal and outputs it through HDMI to a projector, TV, or other display device.

At Norman West, the receiver will typically be connected to the projector in the programming space.

Setup Instructions

0. Before Your Program

1. Be sure to charge the battery! The two smaller ports are usb-c and micro USB for charging. Press the button on the front of the battery to get an idea how much charge is stores. 1 light means 25% charge, and 4 means 100%

1. Set Up the Video Receiver

  1. Connect the receiver to the display device using an HDMI cable.
  2. Plug the receiver's power adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. Turn on the receiver using the small on/off switch.
  4. Verify that the receiver displays a channel number on its screen.

If no channel number appears, confirm that the receiver is powered on.

2. Attach the Camera Arm

  1. Position the SmallRig arm on the edge of the table where the demonstration will take place.
  2. Tighten the clamp screw until the arm is securely attached.

Make sure the arm is stable before attaching or adjusting the camera.

3. Connect the Camera System to Power

  1. Connect the camera's USB power cable to the portable battery pack.
  2. Connect the transmitter's USB power cable to the portable battery pack.

The camera should power on automatically once connected.

4. Turn On the Transmitter

  1. Check that the HDMI input and USB-C power cables are connected to the transmitter on the arm of the mount.
  2. Locate and press the power switch on the side where the cables attach.

After a few moments, the receiver should begin displaying the camera feed.

5. Position the Camera

  1. Adjust the arm and camera angle until the demonstration area is clearly visible on the display.
    1. Several screws may be loosened slightly to allow a range of motion, including extending the horizontal arm, adjusting the angle and height of the arm, and swiveling the camera to different directions.
  2. Check the projected image and make any necessary adjustments to framing.

6. Adjust Focus (If Needed)

If the image appears blurry:

  1. Locate the focus ring near the camera lens.
  2. Rotate the inner ring to adjust focus.

Note: Unlike most cameras, the focus ring is the inner ring rather than the outer ring.

If the focus ring has been turned all the way in, it may be difficult to grip. You may need to use your fingernails to gently reach between the outer and inner rings to rotate it.

Shutdown

  1. Turn off the transmitter.
  2. Disconnect the camera and transmitter from the battery pack.
  3. Turn off and unplug the receiver.
  4. Remove the arm from the table and return all components to their storage location.
