This guide explains how to use digital fax service to send documents without needing to print them.
This also allows staff to send faxes from other locations’ numbers if there are issues sending a fax from the branch copier. (Noble staff may send a fax using the phone line at another location, for example)

Note that this option is not available on public computers.

Since the fax object will likely not be in the list of printers, you may need to add a printer and locate the one you want to use.

To add the Fax device

1. Select Add printer in the print job options (This example uses Microsoft Word)

2. Add the Public or Staff FAX device you want to send from. Each copier, public and staff, should have a FAX object.
After a printer has been added, it should show in the printer list for most programs without needing to be added again.

3. Once the Fax object has been added, it will show up in the list of options like any other printer.

To fax your document

1. The regular print dialog will be replaced by one which prompts for fax destination information instead.
Enter the recipient's name and fax number, click Next.

2. A second dialog window which asks if you’d like to add a cover sheet to the fax.
Keep this unchecked unless you have another document you want to add to the beginning of the fax.
This is not connected to our other digital fax service and therefore can’t generate one from the provided information.
Click Next

3. Provide additional information. It’s unlikely you will need to change this.

4. Preview the job, click Finish.

A logging tool opens which shows the status of the fax job to the destination.
This tool only checks that the print job was sent from the pc to the copier successfully, and not necessarily that the fax sent through.
You should double check the job log on the copier to see if it sent successfully.
